Literature

The greatest of all: Boris Vian. My own personal writing style was evolving into something similar in form as that of Vian when first came into contact with his work by reading "L'écume des jours". Althought I consider my style to be close to his and had that impression confirmed by a friend of my (student in literature and writer himself), I realize my talent is only a fraction of that of Vian.

Interesting similarities between Vian and I:

  • our writing style is similar.
  • we both studied engineering.
  • our mother tongue is French.
  • he had health troubles with his heart (which proved fatal in the end): I had health troubles with my heart.
  • he had excellent drawing skills: mine are not excellent yet but getting there. (Historical note: this item was in the dissimilarities list before I started studying art.)

Interesting dissimilarities:

  • he was a good musician: I'm a very bad musician... but I like music.
  • he patented some inventions: I never did.

In general I like SF and Fantasy but I don't limit myself to these genres. For example, there's Vian and Camus that I like a lot.
